The 10-Step Process for Building a Thriving Community From Scratch
This is why most communities fail before they even begin. Companies will “announce” a new forum, invite 1,000 people to it, and expect those three elements to appear as if by magic. Nope. Won’t work. What you have to do is create those three elements manually. You have to MAKE them exist, one step at a time. This is about building community from scratch, not just making the business case for it to exist.

Public social networks are also free for all which means they're full of competing and distracting content so the chance of capturing your audience's attention and really capitalising on the benefits mentioned above are quite limited. Branded communities can be public or private. They are built on white-label social network software, community software, or online community platforms like Disciple - all of which are the same thing. A branded community is essentially a private community that you own, manage, and control.

r/selfimprovement on Reddit: How do you build community as an adult?
16 September 2024 -
Hey all! I [30F] spent this year recovering from a breakup and realized that my social circle is actually quite small. Nothing wrong with that, but I want to put effort into building a life of my own, one that doesn't need a partner to be full of love.
I'm great at meeting people...but I'm also an introvert who loves her alone time. What tends to happen is that I'll get someone's social media and never interact with them again.
I want to improve my skills in that area. I've also joined a few local organizations and started volunteering to expand my reach.
So, what do you suggest?

For me personally, I love talking to people at the gym. It can be something as small as "Hey I like your shoes or your shirt" and striking up conversation like "what are you training today?" We'll exchange social medias and I'll shoot them a question every now and then or ask to train together. In your case, you should remember a detail they told you about such as their dog being sick and you can ask them a F/U question like "how's your dog?" or you can say "hey i saw this today and it reminded me of you, how are things with you? Let's meet up and catch up soon!" I feel like from there, you collect people one by one and then you try to see which people would be a good fit together and you create your community from there. So you don't need to find a community, you BECOME the community! I hope this helps and lmk if you have any questions!

Hey! I’m in a similar place. Recovering from a breakup and realizing I don’t have the friend group or community I’d like. I joined a couple run clubs and am going to start volunteering regularly. Like you, I’m not quite sure how to be fully validated as a single person and have some codependency issues. I’d suggest joining the codependency subreddit and also get into therapy! Run club has been great as it forces me out of my apartment and to be a pinch social.
